IOTD-statement tee

What are you trying to say???

Coachella is fast approaching and as I start thinking about what I will be wearing, I find myself drawn to funny statement tee's. They are usually sarcastic, snarky or slightly inappropriate.   It's even better if you find one that's all of the above! These are three of my current favorites.  I have been searching eBay and etsy to find one for me (and one for my BF).  After all, who better to be slightly inappropriate and snarky with ;) lol

Something old, something new.....sometimes this is the best combination!!

I just got this new top from cadrewear and I plan to pair it with my old Diesel jeans. Yesterday with the help of an exacto-knife, cheese grater and sandpaper I shredded these jeans to give them a new look!  It was a fun, quick and successful DIY project.

Here's the link:

Try it and have fun, I did!!

I love the fact that sneakers are so on trend right now. They are quirky, chic and comfortable! From New Balance to Vans to the classic Chuck Taylor Converse-they are everywhere, and it's awesome  I remember the pair of New Balance 570's my dad wore to go the gym. Yes dad, you are ever the "original cool".

Now they are back in an array of colors and styles.   The only problem? Deciding which pair to get (it could be a real nail biter)....
Converse, New Balance, Nike, even Marc Jacobs has jumped on this trend bandwagon. Let's all join the sneaker party!

Quote(s) of the day QOTD

I've been struggling a bit lately....with emotions, with transition, with my journey, with being present and living iwith not wanting to be sad......I had these moments of sadness which is then followed by a feeling of guilt because I tell myself that I shouldn't be sad but should focus on all the good in my life.....

I have always loved quotes and collected them throughout my life.  They express what I am feeling more eloquently than I am able to at times and infuse my spirit with strength.  Words arranged in just the right sequence have an enormous amount of power.

We all have struggles, we all have battles within that are often invisible to those around us.  Sometimes the greatest struggle is the one with our own expectations.  I know for me that is an ongoing battle.  So here's a good reminder.....whatever your struggle may be

What's your favorite quote? What words inspire greatness within you just when you need it?

Here's one for the road......

My own private book club....join me!

have always loved to read.  My love affair with books started at a very early age.  My first job was at a library when I was 15 years old.   With careful deliberation I would select my books. Then I would hide away and "consume" them one right after another.  All too soon came high school and college where A&P, microbiology, research and other such burdensome reading material replaced The Babysitters' Club.  Now that the studying and not-so-fun reading is behind me I can once again read just because.....and how sweet it is!

found this list on Pinterest from and wanted to share it here.  I am going to work through this list of amazing writers and will share the highlights here.  Click on the link and enjoy this reading journey with me!

Kareoke split enz.....I see red, I see red, I see red

I have been seeing red a lot lately, and, no, it's not because of anger management issues.  It's because I keep getting drawn to this colour.
The depth and luxuriousness of red never fails to impress me.  I like the way it excites me.   While I mostly wear it on my lips (MAC Viva Glam Rhianna lipstick) I am going to incorporate more of this majestic color into my wardrobe as well...stay tuned!
Dress and Olivia Le-Tan book clutch combo is almost too much for me.......I still don't understand how a color with this much passion was once used to describe a communist.....I just don't.

Moving on...
Those shoes, those bows....are just bananas!!

A simple design with attention to all the right details is sometimes the most impactful piece of clothing we can wear...see the above example.

Now go out and get your "red" on!!

Girl Crush......

Yes my friends, you read that right. I have decided that this is what I am going to call this ever growing affection for this incredibly talented lady ( not Ina creepy way, but in a cool respectful way FYI)
Man Repeller's one and only Leandra Medine.........
Aside from the fact that she writes with a razor sharp wit and intelligence, her style continues to draw these unintentional "oh's" and "mmm's" of titilated delight from my brain.
Since a picture is worth a thousand words so here are some examples of why I'm crushing.....

That saved me about 4,000 words....thank goodness because I don't have that much vocabulary in me today.  So, to continue in the "strong & silent"  mode a few more pics for your viewing pleasure..

The great thing about these photos is that even though they are from different seasons and years they remain fashionably relevant.  That is one of my goals with my own wardrobe-timeless style that always seems effortless.

Thanks for being such an inspirational writer and fashionista. Forgive the assumption as I have never met her, but I'm pretty sure she is one kick-ass kind of gal!

*all images reported from Pinterest...hope that is not some copyright infringement because I do not look good in orange....

One of the basics that I have long loved--the boyfriend jean.   That magical combination of comfort and style.  Theses are jeans are like a fine wine and actually get better with age...I still wear a pair at I bought at least ten years ago before they even had the title  "boyfriend jean" :)
So my IOTD (item of the day) is part of my OOTD (outfit of the day).
Reiss blazer, Celine bag, Jmmy Choo flats, Zoe Karssen sweatshirt, & Current Elliot jeans

Packing for Coachella..........

Jean shorts, maxi "hippie" Dress, Bikini/Coverup combo, Nick Foquet Hat, Statement necklace
Rocker t-shirt, Boots, Sandals, Print shorts, Body chain, 1,000 bracelets, Sunscreen....this is the start of my coachella packing list..... The list could go on and on.  Coachella is two three-day weekends in the desert that may almost be as much about what you wear as what music you listen to.  The air is thick with the sweet patchouli scent of hippie chic hipsters seeking an out of mind and out of body experience all while looking ridiculously cool and effortless.  Bloggers blog about it, Pinterest has an entire section on festival fashion inspiration, and tons of fashion websites feature top looks to mimic for this three-day music wonderland. I have borowed some inspiration from all of the above for this years packing extravagnza....enjoy, I know I'm going to :)

Fashion "trial run" here in NZ at the Big Day Out outdoor music festival.....
